Can anyone comment either good or bad about the Haven sites nr Weymouth, or Poole, Dorset. Or can anyone recommend any other sites with things to do for 5/6 yr olds.

Many thanks Sonja

Sonja, the main priority for these sites is static vans. I live in Poole and have been to most of them, but only early or late season. They would be busy in school holidays and touring facilities may not cope.

The best all round site which has what you want, is Waterside at Bowleaze cove www.watersideholidays.co.uk. It has good facilities and close to Weymouth town and beaches.

Hi Sonja,

If you do not mind going just a few miles away from Weymouth I can STRONGLY reccomend Merley Court Caravan Park,This site is superb in every way very very difficult to find any faults in it.Right from the time you book in to the time you leave you are treated as a respected customer and nothing is to much trouble if you are need of help just a pure pleasure to be there. The fees are reasonable, its spotless clean what more could you want and they are a family concern.Try the site you will not regret it honestly.Happy caravanning Jim

You might reasonably imagine that "Little sea" and "Seaview" in Weymouth are by the sea. They are not and neither is Rockley Park in Poole. Little sea is by the coastal path but it has a large lagoon (little sea) separating it from the Chesil Bank which is very stoney and partially closed at times to protect nesting sea birds, you need to go into Weymouth for the sandy stuff. It is possible to walk to the beach at Bowleaze Cove from Seaview but its a long way and uphill on the way back.Waterside, as recommended by Ray, is much closer. Rockley Park is a long way inside Poole Harbour. It has a small beach and boating but it is not like the real thing which you will find at Sandbanks or Bournemouth. This may not be important to you but if you want a beach holiday without all the hasle of driving and finding a parking space you may be better to look elswhere, especially at the new inflated Haven prices.
