Looking at their on site brochure it says for petrol “ engine not homologated for towing”.
Anyone know if they can’t tow or does the engine need some modification? Never seen that kind of statement before!

This is another example of why it is so important to check the details of any vehicle you are considering before buying.

Even if the body is common with other models and has the structure has the locations to fit a towbar, no tow bar can be approved to fit it.

Which specific model are you referring too, as its not entirely clear from your title?

These instances where one, or more, versions in a model range can't tow but they can still have towbars fitted for bike racks, all legal - indeed some cars with no version allowed to tow can still fit towbars for bike racks, the Ford Ka, Citroen C1, Peugeot 107 and Toyota Aygo are all like that.

Technically they are not towbars...but .....

From what I have been able to find out, the 1.5TSI petrol can tow 1800kg and the 2.0TSI petrol manual 2200kg, DSG 2000kg.
Perhaps the site brochure was published before the engine variant was type approved for towing.

My brother has one of the first 1.4 4x4 kodiaqs in the uk; got some free kit as it was the launch model and has the skoda towbar which drops down from behind the bumper-lovely bit of kit and it's a great tow car. Maybe ring the dealer or check carefully as websites can be out of date! SOME kodiaqs def can't tow-the 150bhp 7 seat diesel is the one that springs to mind?

What is a Skoda Kodak? A resurrected camera/film manufacturer?
DD, do you mean a Kodiaq or a Karok?

I've been reading it as Kodiaq; the KArok isn';t rated to tow so much as the Kodiaq, which is the larger car?
