if i get an extra sky + box for the caravan will my sky card from home work?

We have Sky plus and another the old sky box in our bedroom, when my son goes to his nana's he takes the card from up stairs with him, and puts it in their old skybox.
We have a bigger package than she does so my son is only able to get what they can see on their main skyplus box. They only have one card that is why he takes ours with him.
Not sure if I have answered your question, but I would point out what happens with our card.

The card is only matched to one box for premiun channels so you would need to take the box with its card if you wanted to watch sport.movies etc
You could ring Sky and they would match it to the spare box but on a regular basis it could be more hassle than unplugging the main box as it needs to be connected to be matched and they won't match to more than one box at a time

We have sky plus in our van. It works perfectly fine, the card is registered at my mother-in-laws address for billing.
One point of consideration. Should you wish to record and watch sky plus at the same time you will need the 4 way LNB reciever for your dish. I adapted our home LNB to fitthe arm of our Lidle portable dish.
The set up is a lot more directional sensative as you need to get a locked signal on both recieving channels. I have put a wind break around our dish as it tends to move just enough to stop a recording. For what ever reason BBC1 is the first channel to go off station so that is a good indicator of your dish moving.
One other tip. Keep the bracketry and any pole short as possible, you don't need to have the dish 6ft in the air to get reception. I mount ours on the G clamp bracket from thr mobile kit on the jockey wheel post, the top of the dish is level with the bottom of the front window. This also hides the twin cables as much as possible so as not to give away that we have sky+ in the van.

I do the same as John, ie take the whole sky + box away. I have spoken to Sky on a number of occasions regarding usage of my sky+ card in another box. As said earlier the only way to do that is to keep telephoning Sky to have the card and box validated. Absolutely stupid as I only have one card so how can I cheat??
Disconnecting the Sky+ box at home doesn't take long. Until Sky wake up and try and help us caravanners with a more user friendly card , or the ability to permanently validate the card to two boxes I see no other choice other than to use the home box.

We don't subscribe to any Premium channels so our card would work in another Sky+ box no problem, BUT because we set recordings on Series Link, it makes more sense to take the home box with us. We can then find time to catch up with stuff we've recorded but not found time to watch. Also, if you take the card out of the home box, any recordings set up won't happen. So yes, makes more sense to take box from home.
As has been said, it doesn't take long to disconnect/reconnect the box but those screw-on F Connectors can be a pain in the backside. Invest in some Push-Fit connectors. Much easier on the fingers and they push on and pull off in a fraction of a second with no loss in signal strength or quality. Mine cost a quid each from RoadPro. I have them at home and in the caravan.

I almost posted the same thing about F connectors
I have found that some of the female adapters are prone to breaking and so have made up short leads with an F connector on one end that's left screwed to the digi box and a standard coax socket on the other
It makes it much easier as the Fs have a habit of cross threading and wires unscrewing!!

Whilst on this subject I have a maxview socket attached to the side of the caravan. The F connectors is very fiddly to screw in from underneath. No one seems to do a side entry version. Originally we just fed the cable through the window but I prefer something more permanent.

I use a dual F Connector Plate .....
.... mounted underneath the caravan floor which feeds up through the wardrobe through an existing hole in the floor for other cables/pipes.
The Satellite dish is mounted into brackets on the side of the caravan, the two leads plugging into this plate under the floor using the push-fit F Connectors. (No fiddly screwing)
Inside the caravan, the wires come through the floor in the wardrobe to another dual F Connector Plate on the side of the wardrobe where the TV and Sky+ sits. Again, push-fit F Connectors connect this plate to the Sky+ box.

We seem to be on the same wavelength!
I usually use the Maxview Semitronic on the roof which is permanenlty wired up to the digi box position and has push connectors but sometimes (once in 3 years) I need to use the back up dish on a tripod if trees are in the way
On the Award there is a coax sky F connector inlet in the battery box next to the 230V inlet
I have used the fitting you show so well above and added a second one alongside it for the Sky+
The wire from the original Award Sky inlet has been rerouted to run next to the connections to the roof aerial and so can be used on sites with TV aerial sockets on the hook up post when not needed for Sky
This means that we can enjoy good reception via the aerial lead or the dish and watch 2 different programmes via 2 TVs; me at the front and Cynthia in bed at the rear usually watching Premiership football on Sky Sports or Satanta !!!!

Alan you need the male F connector to female coax adapter
I get mine from Focus
I find that they break easily so tape up round the adapter before use !
