Hi, can anyone help please,
I took my sky HD × box down to my caravan I have my signal finder, compass all set up to 28.2 but all I got was no satillite signal on screen plus correct Time and date, yes I did set input to one signal, and yes I was pointing at astra

Now I also have a free sat box which I set up as well and got 80% and 90% signal and quality, now as they both use same satillite what am I doing wrong, is there some setting I'm missing

Is this your regular sky box or a spare?
Sky boxes can be slow to latch on. Sometimes turning off the power and back on resets the Sky system. I assume you have the correct skew angle and angle of elevation for Sky even though the other box works.
What card are you using in the Sky Box?
Sorry if some of these questions are obvious but it does help us to get a better understanding of the problem.

You are on the correct screen within settings.
Are you away from home ?
So your Mobile dish LNB is single output. No problem. It doesn't matter which input you use. 1 or 2 ok.
Forgive me asking but are you certain you are on the correct satellite? Are all connections good. Have you rebooted the sky box?
What meter are you using?
Very frustrating but you won't be the first or last. I've gone back to the problem later and it all worked!
On your free sat box what network id and transponder stream do you see?

Have a look at this link.http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/articles/view.asp?id=552
Sorry if it is all obvious but sometimes back to basics helps. Very hard doing these things on line.
Reboot:- Switch off sky box at mains for 5 minutes. Switch back on and start again.
What size dish and LNB are you using?
Transponder/ Network ID should read 0002.
Transport Stream 07d4 or similar.
The angle of elevation varies throughout the country . Further north it gets lower, further south higher.

Your freesat box gets signal level and quality but does it get programmes? If it is a wideband box that will work on other satellites it could be that you are on Astra 19E. If so you need to swing very slightly East (left when viewed from behind the dish) and dip the dish down a little also. I am puzzled that you say you point the dish as 28.2? In the UK the dish will generally point somewhere around 144-146deg which is outside the dish beamwidth if you have subtracted 28.2 from 180.

You should not use a Sky box of any kind to align as they are notoriously deaf.

If you have an Android smartphone download Sat Director from the Play store - it is free - which will do a better job than a compass, although I admit I always carry an optical compass as well!
