slow cookers

I have caravanned for many years and never leave home without my crockpot/slow cooker!!! In fact it has taken up residency in the van now. So easy to use, just prepare veg and throw them in. Prepare some meat (ideal for cheaper cuts) and do the same. Add a bit of stock and herbs - and off you go for the day. Arriving home is so much nicer when you are met with a lovely meal ready cooked for you. I can highly recommend them. Now going to get another one of home.

when I need to do slow cooking I just turn the gas down and it does the trick

Slow cooker is the best way to cook, try panackelty, rissoto, mince and dumplings, liver & onions and it can do casseroles, sweets, soups of any kind and once up to temperature it takes approx. 60 watts of power. put in on slow, go out for the day and as someone else has said enjoy. yum, yum, my mouth is watering just at the thought.

When we are away in the van we are always slow cookers. We take our time preparing great meals and enjoying a beer or glass of wine whilst we create is part of the pleasure. We then sit down with another bottle of wine , enjoy our meal and watch the world go by as we enjoy good conversation and some appropriate background music. No hurried meals in our van ! Actually, sorry to go off thread, a slow cooker is a great addition , especially after a day out in the winter months.

what a lovely picture you paint!! Cooking is not my favourite occupation but having more time to do so when in the caravan does make it more enjoyable and a glass of wine does help!

Slow cookers are great, but there aretimes when they are ... too slow. We also carry a small pressure cooker (from Lakeland) which is great for soups and tenderisng French beef (and very ecnonomical on gas).
