sockets but no lights

Hi

I've got an Eldis Odyssey 524, & when we went tonight I attatched my lead the sockets work but not the lights. I've checked the mini rcds & they haven't tripped, any help please??

Yes, I know, I'm an idiot for asking, but are you sure they are 240 volt lights? Just because the battery is disconnected, it doesn't prove anything if you still have 240 hookup. The 12v lights don't work from the battery as such, if you are plugged in to the mains, they work from the caravan charger (for want of a better description), which doesn't need a battery in situ. So, you could have blown a fuse on the 12v side or your charger may be faulty. If the light are definitely 240v it means tracing the 240v into and out of the consumer unit. A cheap multi meter will help you with this.

As Lol says the lights are usually 12V with possibly a couple of 230V ones .

They should work on newer vans from the charger/transformer unit without a battery but older vans need a battery in line to smooth out the 12V
