Could I please have feedback on Solar Briefcases from Maplins. Has anyone had problems with these as I have seen them advertised on other sites as not waterproof
We have used them in all weathers for 2 years without any problems so far.
One point - the cheaper ones like ours use glass panels that are heavy and easy to break, if possible go for a monocrystalline panel, I think that is the right name - it uses a printed carbon film on an aluminium panel one which is lighter and more durable.
I have seen them available in the suitcase package.
I will change to this kind of panel when ours breaks down or breaks.
Still not sure what type of Solar Panel to get yet, as I don't do many off EHU rallies, but have been told an 18W one would be adequate for my usage.
Gary, did you see my request under General, headed FAO Jeremy Clarks Son (it's on page two now) if not will see you when we meet next (Unity? Bashley? Quantocks?)
We used at 20W but yesterday bought a 65W solar panel from Solar Solutions in Poole, Dorset. Now we should keep the battery charged. The wretched lights and pump seem to drain the battery for a passtime. As we live in Dorset it wasn't too far to go. Solar Solutions are at Peterborogh show now, I believe.
