Something's fallen off!

Hi and thank you for having me on your forum. An L-shaped metal bar has fallen off the A frame of my 2003 Swift Challenger. I'm guessing this is something to do with connecting the break away cable to the breaking system. However I can't work out how it was attached or how to reattach it. There may be more that's come off but if there is it's on the roadside somewhere! Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

Best to pop over to a dealers or neighbours caravan and get underneath with your phone camera. I’d do one for you but mines in storage 12 miles away.

Looks like a locker stay to me.
Daft I know but are you sure it is off your caravan and not something accidentally picked up off the road?

Not too sure of the size, but it looks too big to me to be off the breakaway system, but cannot be sure. How big is it?

Hope you work it out. As Raywood says, size would help. Another photo with you hands or feet next to it would give an idea of scale. Is the breakaway cable loose or dangling?

Edit. A thought. On one of our previous vans there was a long narrow gap at the front of the inside of the front external locker. Big enough for something of that shape and possible size to wiggle through. Adds weight to DDs idea, but was there anything like it in the locker?

Thank you everyone. I would say it's a bit less than 2 feet long. I've had a look underneath again and am still none the wiser. Also everything seems as it should be in the front locker. Photos below.

Great pics , thanks. Winding back why do you say the object “fell off your A frame”?
Have you had the caravan from new?
Maybe it did fall out of your front locker having been left there by a previous owner?
Could be a table or light chair support?
Generall your photos show everything in order . Maybe the breakaway fastening could be improved?

It's not a side support bar for one of your corner steadies, is it?

Each steady should have two! 🙂

Unless it is a stay for the front locker I am at a loss to think of anything that size and shape on a caravan. It looks too weak to be part of the corner steady to me but it is the right shape.
