I have a 1996 Fleetwood Colchester Caravan and had to change some bulbs. I disconnected the lamp completely and now can't remember the order of brake light & tail light.

At the moment I have it in the order of indicator, brake, tail light?

Any help would be appreciated.

It doesn't really matter, if it was me I would go indicator, tail light, brake light.

Do yo mean the whole unit can be fitted , either way round. ie, Amber light to the left or right.
I can understand your dilemma.

Because that's all the law requires. One high intensity (rear) red light. Either on, or to the offside of, the vehicles centre line.
But anyone visiting from Europe doesn't have to relocate their rear fog light to the opposite side (and neither do UK drivers visiting Europe)

Many vehicles have the wiring for two, but the manufacturers then use the nearside location that a second fog light could be fitted into, for a single reversing light. It saves them a couple of quid per car, and that adds up over large volume production runs.

Touaregs just have one on the offside - the matching item on the nearside is just a reflector - it's theoretically possible to fit a left-hand unit from a LHD car but there are issues with the canbus wiring.
