Spain in the winter

Hi,

we're getting closer to retirement by the day and are starting to think about long term breaks in the south of Spain. I realise there are numerous sites of different quality but what sort of cost per month should we expect? Just the 2 of us and the dog.

We've been doing the winter thing in Spain for many years. Out in mid-November, back in March with a short period at home for Christmas with the family. Fees on the coastal sites of Spain don't vary throughout the year - maybe slightly more in July & August. There's the pitch fee - maybe 10Euros; Adult fee (3 - 4Euros); Child 2-3E; Car (?3E); Caravan or tent?4E); Electricity (3-4E) Total per night can be anything from 16 up to 30Euros. VAT is charged at 7%. In winter various discounts are applied depending on the length of stay. 15 days maybe 30%; 30 days sometimes 50%. Some sites even have a fixed monthly rate for van plus two people. Sadly, on every site which we've visited, dogs are always charged extra per night. Cheapest I've seen is 2Euros per night; dearest is 4Euros.

With both methods, check out whetyer the sites are open at the time of year you want to use them.

The further north you get on the Costa's, the sites (Although not all) tend to open March or April.

We did overwintered last year and found it wonderful.
