Thought I would just post a few comments for those about to set off for the sun. We've been down near Mojacar since the New Year, so have first hand experience only of that area but communication with chums in other parts indicates similar views.

Traffic volumes are generally well down on even last year; site staff say that cost of motor fuel is now high and that people are getting very careful abut when and where they drive. Currently diesel here at 1.38 euro/litre

Perhaps for the same reason the Guardia Civil are less in evidence on the roads, but seem to be getting very keen on enforcing the 'No A frames' rules for motor vanners. Fines reported have been from 40 euros to 200 euros. The towed vehicle then has to be driven separately. In one instnace the outfit was off road at a service area.

Campsite occupation is a mixed report. Some sites near Alicante reportedly completely full, whereas here we are at about 60% - llower than at this time in previous years. Prices seem to be frozen with a possible increase in the EHU charge, now accounting for 25-33% of the total.

Autopista tolls seem to have increased slightly, but not yet to the French level.

Supermarket prices have risen since last year but probably less in percentage than in UK.

Sun is still free and plentiful !

Plenty of sun over here

and plenty of space in campsites..........diesel up to €1.44 although can be found at €1.39.
Paying €11/ day for site fees with 10 amp electricity included......... the same as 4 years ago at this site!
We will be back in the UK in early March to hopefully enjoy the Spring flowers etc.......enjoy the rest of your stay at Mojacar.

Additional note: IVA (VAT) has increased to 10% - not a gret difference but it all adds up, particularly with the GBP low agaainst the Euro.

Hi we are at La Manga and have been here since October 2012 with visits to UK in between. Weather here beautiful sunshine at the moment campsite has not been so full this year but have found that very many motorhomes are wild camping for weeks and weeks around this area and at Los Najros saw around 80 large motorhomes camped on waste ground near the Mar Menor and around Los Alcazares they seem to set up in October and are still there. There has not been much rain this winter but it has been more windy than usual. Yes prices have gone up slightly but still better than UK and we went down to Portugal for a couple of weeks and fuel was 10 cents dearer than in Spain. Still love Spain and definitely do not want to go back to the UK at the moment with the weather as it is over there.
