Looking for a switch for my Wyoming I am amazed to see new Truma TODs are £35.00 each! I replaced mine four years ago for about £8.00 each. What’s happened in four years?

Spares have shot up in price over the past few years especially if the item has the word 'caravan' in front of it. Recently I needed a thermocouple for my Electrolux/Dometic fridge. Leisurespares and the likes wanted £42 for one. I got one off ebay listed for a Beko gas cooker for £6. And how about those two little thermostats in the bottom of the Truma Ultraheat? Four or five years ago they were a fiver each. Now your looking at 30quid or so for one. Potterton have similar in their boilers at £6. It really is a scandal

Talking of spares prices. Have you looked at replacement elements for your Truma Ultrastore lately? An eyewatering £130. Even the most expensive electric kettle which also contains a similar element can be bought for around £30. Or a new element for a Creda/Belling/Hotpoint cooker for around £6.99.

There's a company called cpc.farnell.who supply thermal cutout switches similar to those used in the Truma Ultraheat. They have a variety of different ones which switch at different temperatures. Thing is they are all priced at around £2 each. Truma must be laughing all the way to the bank.

We had the oven seal go earlier this year and rather than take caravan to dealer etc under warranty I looked to buy one. £38 plus post! Bought a generic kit on Amazon for £8 including post. Dealer was sensible and ordered a replacement on photographic evidence and generic one lasted until next dealer visit.
