Spare wheel carrier sqeak

We have just taken possession of our new Magnum 556 and on our first weekend away noticed that the spare wheel carrier sqeaks as though the caravan was 20 years old. Has anyone any suggestions for a cure to this annoying problem?

Jeff,

Is your chassis an Alko or BPW? My van has the BPW chassis and the compatible spare wheel carrier which came with the 'van is a REALLY cheap and nasty wire cage which makes a most awful noise when going along. If it is this one, I'm not sure there's much you can do about it. The Alko carrier which is much better, only fits a few BPW chassis'.

One solution is to remove the carrier and carry the spare wheel either in the caravan or the car. Not at all satisfactory I know but at least you'd be rid of that wretched noise.

Vic,

Yes it is a BPW chassis and I totally agree it is really cheap and definately nasty. Have you any idea how I find out if a Alko one will fit?

Thanks for the help

Jeff
