They can represent good value IF the special ADDITIONS are what you want, But people can be seduced by them & buy with extras they didn't know they needed

Not sure if this it what you term Special Edition. We bought our van as a Marquis Special edition, which meant that we got upgraded furnishings, curtains , cushions. A|so included rear jacks, they also offered alloy wheels at £1 extra, which we declined (more to steal?) because we declined the wheels we got an awning instead (more useful) Been more than happy with the van, for 9 years now, will see us to the end of our motorhoming period

Three years ago we set off looking to buy a newer motorhome than the ten year old we had been using for four years. We had 'must have' and 'would be nice' lists and looked at a whole bunch of two to three year old vans that met the criteria. However, at one dealership we did look at a new Special Edition based on a Swift offering that ticked all the boxes and, for the most part, was priced at less than many of the second hand units we had already looked at. In addition this new outfit came with a three year warranty on the base vehicle and habitation.

After much deliberation we went for the Special Edition and have been very pleased with it. Yes there were some minor warranty issues but these all were resolved to our satisfaction by the dealership.

In our case we didn't have to compromise on any of our requirements so it suited us and has served us well to date.

Basically what I meant, but some off us , are a lot older than you I am talking about reaching 80, in the not to distant future, when the urge to stay put gets to you, and a package holiday with being waited on, looks tempting, and the driving does become more tiring with age
