Morning All

I am sure there are many members who were away for the weekend, and I am sure many if you seen vans being driven at break neck speeds.

Yesterday, we were returing from the West Country, along the M5, we were overtaken by 2 motorhomes, nose to tail doing approx 80 - 85 miles per hour!!!!!

We were travelling along at just under 60, the motor homes went passed us very close, (shook the caravan) they left us behind as if we were going backwards.

We wonder how accidents are caused!

I have to say that our site was full over the weekend and yesterday they were queing to get in, speaking to the warden, they were fully booked all week, I also noticed that the majority were retired, roll on retirement

Regards to all

Motorhomes are not restricted to spped the same as caravans are, so can legally do up to 70, but as we all know on motorways the Police will not do anything about speeds up to about 80mph as long as the traffic flow allows.

Tailgating is however another matter, and that is down to the individual driver irresponsibilty.

there was an article on a Motorhome forum I used to go on about this a few years ago.

The general beleif was that these vehicles were being delivered to dealers or between dealer sites and it was delivery drivers not real owners.

It matters not who is driving, whether it is the owner of the delievry person. Speeding is illegal.

It is just as illegal even if the police and authorities turn a blind eye to it, but be warned. The same lattitude to exceeding 70mph is not shared across the country. It is down to individual police foreces, and some have beem muttering about zero tollerance.

Tailgating is a seperate offence, and if combined with speeding is prosecuted as two offences.

In both cases it is irresponsible, and drivers shoudl expect to be detected and prosecuted.
