I cant find a spell checker for this new format website, am I missing something [other that a basic command of spelling]?
My old technique to prepare my response in "Word" and pasting that in leads to a whole load of uneditable rubbish prefixing my entries.
If there is not one buried in the website does anyone know of a thirdparty free checker that's safe and works without introducing further issues, please?

I don't think there is a spell checker on this site. Not sure if one will appear in the fullness of time or not. My very dyslexic son says that Read and Write version 8 is a fantastic spell checker and manages most of his, quite frankly, bizarre spelling. ( a previous spellchecker had intercepted his attempt at "Dear Sir or Madam" and left him with "Dear Sir or Madmen" Fortunately I got to the letter before he sent it.!) Sadly not free, in fact quite expensive. He seems to use it for all his typing so I assume it would work here.

Thanks Mel,
As its only needed to work with this website I am not inclined to fund one just for my contributions here.
My Word and Open Office spell checkers work for most of my needs but I cant get anything to work with this website.
Thanks.

Hi to you all that pick this query up. The easy way of Spell Checking on this or for that matter most other sites is to Right Click the Mouse whilst the marker is on the page either over the word for checking or the page in general. There is a small drop-down menu,it is often the bottom option. If the whole of a sentence or paragraph highlights then move the marker away to clear ground and try again. I am using FireFox as my browser with Google as my Search Engine. My googlemail has the 'check spelling' set as a default option on the upper right-hand of the content page. The use of Google is a good option, but requires a minimisation of the forum page and then bringing up the Google search page, the only other way would be to have Google already open and minimised in order to swap between the two.

If you are using Firefox / Google when you type a reply click on the 'Disable rich text' link at the bottom right of the reply box and the spell check will be shown working. You can do this after you have finished typing but before clicking on 'Save'.

If you are using Internet Explorer you can incorporate ieSpell (free download) into tool bar, works for me. OK you occasionally have to correct an American spelling!

There is an option in ieSpell to change the language to UK English (Tools | ieSpell options | Language & Dictionaries)
It's also an option (both to check spelling & change options) if you right click when in the text entry box.
