Hi

Just been away for the New Year and used our new van for the first time. We have a Spinflo Oven does anyone else have one of these?

You light the oven and turn the flame up, only to go back in less than 5 minutes and it's on low again.

Once it's been alight for a while your are unable to increase the falme.

Has anybody else had a problem like this?

Grill and hob working fine on both low and high settings.

Happy New Year

It may just be the thermostat working correctly and the oven is up to temp. However, If you have any problem then contact bailey and ask them for the contact number for Spinflo. They will do everything they can to fix it. I have dealt with them in the past and can only say very good things about them.

Hi Steve

The oven is barely getting warm. The J.potatoes had been in at least an hour and the tray they was on was not very hot at all.

I will have to ring Bailey tomorrow.

Thanks anyway.

Phone bailey for the number and also ask your dealer to order a new thermostat. Also ask them to check if the flame is lifting and if so to order a modified rubber for the door

I helped them recently with a problem they had
Steve

Dealer must still be on holidays, rang Bailey they said we had to go back to dealer, they didn't know what was wrong with it.

So looks like we will have to keeping ringing dealers, and ask them when they open whats is wrong with it.

I don't suppose they will have the parts on their shelve so it will be two visits.

Hi,

We had a similar problem with the Spinflo ina 2005 Pageant S%. The flame would go out even after the oven had been lit for several minutes, and even if the flame stayed alight it would be very unstable. When the heat setting was turned up the flame would ramp up but also would be so unstable that sections of the burner would have no flame at all whilst others would have jets of flame. I took the van back and the dealer changed the burner/valve assembly. It is far better now but still shows a tendency to instabilty when the heat setting is increased, so we are careful not to just turn it up too quickly. It was the same whether we ran on butane or propane.

This is caused by the change in design of the van to vent the oven through the front instead of the back. Spinflo know of the issue and have redesigned the front rubber to address the issue. If you still have the issue then a call to Bailey will get the new rubber sent to you.

My experience of Spinflo is a company that never walks away from an issue. When I had a problem, they could no reproduce it so I offered them my van to test airflows etc. they took up the offer with thanks and sorted the issue for all their users who had the problem. As a thanks, they replaced my oven with a new model and set it all up.

Everyone won, I got the problem fixed and a new oven, they got a fix they could send to other users.

Just as a note, the problem was not with the Spinflo equipment but with the design of the van. The manufacturer changed the design and previous models that had the problem where retrofitted with the solution.

All the time they kept me informed regardless of good news or bad and I would never think twice about recommending them to anyone

I totally agree Sparkes - same issue as you and the Spinflo people were superb. The modified seal appears to work fine as it allows more air into the oven to aid combustion/airflow.

Allyson,

You say your caravan is new and this was the first time you have used it.

Your dealer has not done a full P.D.I. on your caravan. Your first port of call should be your dealer to rectify the problem. You have have spent your good money and he has failed you, otherwise other people will receive new caravans which have not had correct P.D.I.'s.

Our dealer, Golden Castle caravans, takes at least 1 hour for the new caravan handover and leaves all appliances running for quite some time to show you everything is working.

Hi All

Just to keep you up to date on the situation.

We rang the dealers and they have asked us to turn on the hob, grill and then the oven all at the same time and this should correct its self, not sure if they think there is an air lock or what, if this does not work they said to contact them and they will get it fixed, it could be the thermostat.

They did try everything out with us and showed us how it all worked when we picked the van up, but I cannot say I looked at the flame, or how long it was high for.

Here's something to think about:

We used the oven on our first night to warm potato skins up, I asked mey daughter to time it, anyway she forgot and I am not too sure if 15 mins. had passed, anyway when we were eating the food it was warm but could have been warmer. We used a blue calor gas bottle.

Following day, gas runs out, changed to new small size lightweight gas bottle, used oven in evening and noticed gas flame not high.

A) Do we have a problem with the oven?

B) Do we have a problem with the new gas valve?

C) Did I hear somewhere that some of the small lightweight

bottles had problems and were returned to the Depot, do

we have one of those faulty bottles?

Plan of action tomorrow is to go down to the storage site and light all Spinflo parts with the lightweight bottle, if this does not work we are going to refil the Calor gas blue bottle and see how the flame is with that bottle. If neither of these work it's going back to the dealers for them to check it out.

Hi,

last Spring we had the modification to address the problem of excess heat build up in the cupboard next to the fridge. IE one removed from the oven. Our daeler fitteda Bailey modification to insert a baffle plate inside the van and cut an external vent grille behind the oven. It sorted out the excess haet problem. It was carried out at the same time that the daeler looked at the burner assembly so now I am not sure whether the mod that you refered to from Spinflo was incorporated. All I can say is that the oven burner is now more stable but still not as good as I have had had on other vans. The van is due in for service soon so I will discuss it with the daeler.

Cheers

Steve (sparkes)

Went to the caravan and tried both gas bottles, but neither of the bottles could keep the flame on the high level for more than 1 minute.

Rang dealer again today, he asked was the air vent blocked? I replied no, not on the both occassions that I had used it.

He asked me to contact Spinflo direct to ask them to call out when it was convient for us, rather than take it back to them.

I rang but the gentleman was in a meeting this afternoon, however if returning my call after 7 p.m. is anything to go by, (what good customer service)., unfortunately I was out and he will ring me in the morning.

I will keep you posted.

Sparkes (Steve)

A gentleman on behalf of Spinflo came out today to check our van's oven, he did all the checks and found that we needed a new thermostat, so he replaced it.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts on the problem.
