Hi.Had our 2009 Sancerre for about 8 months now and although have only used it once, have been totally pleased with it.
That is however, until I went to the storage compound last weekend and noticed a split in the white plastic "wall".
We havent even used the shower yet and do not store anything in there so nothings been banged against it whilst towing.
I will, obviously inform Bailey, but was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with their caravan./sites/practicalcaravan.com/files/images/medium_003%20%282%29.JPG
Have included a picture but its not too clear.

We had a small split in our Elddis shower at a few months old. They sent someone out who "cold welded" the split. I did not see exactly what he did, but it only took 5 min all told and has not split again. So there is probably a simple solution to this. See you dealer.

Hi Chris.
Ours is about 2ft.long so i suppose that may be an option.
Will have to see what the dealer says.
Problem is,im sure they will want to see the caravan, but we have trips away arranged almost each month this year and I dont want to take it in to them and then get phone calls from them to say it isnt ready yet.
Hopefully, they would agree to have it in at the end of the season.
We always use the site facilities anyway so being without a shower for one season wouldnt really matter.
The only explanation I can think of is that it happened whilst towing or the really cold spell of weather we experienced recently.

Greetings George and Ade,
Personally I think that the dealer asking that you take the caravan to them so that they may inspect the crack is 'over the top'. I've had a crack in a shower before, and at the moment I am awaiting a replacement handbasin which has also cracked.
In both cases I took photographs and sent them via Email to the dealers concerned.
Lets face it, it's highly unlikely that the dealer itself will effect a repair and it will be most likely outsourced to an expert Company.
Why should you have the expense of taking the outfit to the dealer just for them to confirm "Yes its cracked."
Take the bull by the horns, send the dealer photographs, (It may help to take a close up and a couple more progressively further away with a tape measure stuck adjacent to the damage) and tell them that you wish to make a warranty claim and ask them to organise the repair without the necessity of hauling the van to them.

Good idea emmitdb.
What I am thinking of doing is,informing them of the crack once our holidays are over and if they wish to keep the caravan for a few weeks then thats fine.
Even better if they store it inside

Seriously though, its very rare that we use the shower, so its no big deal to go without for the rest of the season.

When you've done the photo's and letter of claim, take copies for your reference. You'd be suprised how many people don't and also how frequently the dealer, supplier "looses them in the post" !

If you dealer still wants to see the van, why not invite them to go to the van at a time & day to suit you. After all, that's what customer service is for. Also you'd be suprised how often they then back down and get on with repair.

If it can be cold welded make sure that it won't be picked on after wards as a price allowance when trading in. If that's the case you could accept it as temorary repair pending full replacement at end of season. Above all else get all discussions supported with written confirmation, just in case you have to refer back to them.

If you look back in January's posts we had the same problem caused by a staple that was protruding through the hard board, our dealer and Lunar did the job under warranty no problem. It seems that the who ever fitted the wall board on the back of our 2010 Clubman SE missed the wood, consequently when towing the staple was in contact with the plastic causing it to split, looks like other manufactures work force can not take proper care when assembling caravans. The repair was done by a specialist company renowned for shower repairs, may even be them that make them, either way they did an excellent job.
