Hi Vernon, I think there is a lever just behind the tow hitch which flcks over to stop the brakes being applied for reversing the van. It is a long time since we had a Musketeer, large family van if I remember, freezing in winter without some sort of supplementary heater. Hope this makes sence, Bazz.

Hi Bazz..thanks for your reply..I know the lever you mean but as it only moves forward and backwards I cant figure out how it locks the bar to stop the brakes going on?

Must agree its not a van for the colder weather but having now fitted mains hook up a fan heater keeps us cosy and the gas lights and fridge all help.

Vern.

Hi Vernon,

the lever as said hinges into place to prevent the brakes being applied when reversing, it stops the hitch from engaging the brakes ie travelling backwards. If this is not happening then it could be the assembly needs adjusting, see your local Yellow Pages for Mobile caravan fitters, Bazz.
