Sprite Quattro ES

Do any of you own a Sprite Quattro ES if so could you please give me your opinions and views of this van as I am seriously considering buying a new one looks the same as the Swift Charisma 590 just slightly more basic but with a huge saving on the new price.

Hi Daniel, we have had a Swift Charisma 590 for 6 months now and would highly recommend this layout for a family van. Our children are 8, 6 and 2 and the 590 works perfectly for us with the open layout, side dinette and large end washroom proving to be perfect. I'm not sure where the cost savings are made with the Sprite but if you can live without a microwave, extractor fan, front cabinet and the other 'missing' features then go for it. Only negatives are the noisy inboard water pump, the wasted space in the front top corners (where my my previous Abbey had really useful shelves)and better access to the underside of the bottom bunk, where I'm thinking of installing an external hatch. The van is also big (8m) and heavy (1800Kgs) and like all twin axles cannot be manouvered by hand but I'm sure that you know all this before you start looking at twin axle models. Good luck.

Hi Jenny,

We personally liked the lighter interior. The layout is exactly the same but thought it seemed more roomy.

Likes, all enclosed storage lockers, seem to remember a few open shelf units in the Bailey with brass bits on, hence things on show.

Nicer material, not our cup of tea but better than the Bailey. (When are these manufacturers going to move away from horrible patterns (Dare i say that!). More modern looking altogether.

Bigger work surface in Kitchen, slightly bigger fridge, the price!!. We got a really good price compared to the Bailey and would have had to shelf out more for upgrade hitch, spare wheel.

I have here the P/Caravan magazine from June 08 where the 2 and a Adria Adora 612Up are compared and the Sprite won the award.

The Adria is single axle but a lot heavier.

I can copy it up and post it out if we are allowed to exchange details?

the children also preferred the Sprite, longer front beds, plenty of storage for their stuff. i may need to get an extra plug fitted near to the front but i'll manage for now and see how we get on.

Hi Chris, thanks for the reply, It seems to be alot of caravan for the money and at a very low weight which is what we are looking for, we have a twin axle at present but it is heavy and we tow with a 4x4 which we would like to change due to fuel prices and car tax, this caravan would still give us the space we are used to. Our only concern is where the tv unit is, does this affect you at all or have you found another place to put it?

With regard to your post in the comments about exchanging details, yes you are allowed to have your email address passed on.

The best way to do it is to open a new topic with the title

It can sometimes take a little time because our system is a little bit quirky and old fashioned and we have to stoke the boiler up first.

Our van is unused, Im hoping to get to the nearest CL this Saturday to try stuff out. The tv fits at the foot of the bed in a unit with a plg and aerial socket. Its got a fitting bracket that rotates for a for a flat screen tv.

We currently have a small portable that we take and stick it in the awning.

Theres enough room to stick a small tv on the worktop next to the door and theres a 3 pin plug as a temp arrangement. I think it is a lot of van for the money. We looked at second hand but were looking to fork out the same price as this brand new one, knowing that everything in it was ours! If you see what i mean.

Hi Chris, just bought it to-day haven't been able to put it down all day. Think this is the caravan for us. Only problem now is finding a dealer here that sells them (northern Ireland) and one that will do a good deal. Let me know how your first outing goes.

M and the children spent Saturday night in it trying to check things out. It went OK.

Ive made a few temporary shelves as we were only supplied with 2. Ive posted a note to Swift for more, but to date had no response, I guess its holiday time for them all.

I used some offcuts of laminated floor with grooves cut out to hold them in place at the back and then I plained the front edge off. The cupboards are big but lack shelfs.

The instruction book is a little confusing but I think we'll get there in the end. Our main trip is a week tomorrow.

Have you made a decision yet? If so what are tyou going for/

Are you able to buy from over here? if so i'd recommend the dealer we used whos details are above at the start of this subject.

I think its alot of van for the money!

Hi Chris, you got a very good deal we would be more than pleased if we could get it for that price. Where abouts are you and the dealer you went to. If we could sell ours privately it would be well worth travelling over there to get one at that price.

Hi Jenny, we sold our van privately and then i paid
