Sprung mattress question.

As I suffer with back aches quite alot now I'm thinking of converting the rear area into a fixed bed option (not permenant)
Looked at purchasing a 4ft x 6ft sprung mattress as supplied to the larger static/mobile homes.
By removing the sliding bedroom petition (and storing to replace at a later date) the mattress will fit in as snug as a bug.
Has any one done this or had any experience sleeping on them.
Any comments/idea's/remarks welcome.

There is no reason not to do it, as such.
The thing you will have to take account of is the weight issue and redistribution of weight to give the correct nose weight without being rear heavy, which could cause instability.

I my self was thinking of a mattress for the rear bedroom/dinner but we have ordered a mattress topper to put over the bed, it has not arrived yet but when it dose will let everyone know how it is in the van.
Can't wait to test it.

Thanks Damien, was thinking that I would actually be a bit lighter on the rear end by removing the sliding petition,
take out existing seating cushions and replace with the one mattress. I would weigh all items just to see what is actually happining
I would, as always check the nose weight before setting off.

Hi Reg and Pat, did think along those lines but found you can buy a 7inch deep sprung mattress for around the same price.
I also wonder about the topper still slipping down the gaps of the cushions

as said on other post in store aka pound stretcher have toppers and memory foam mattreses in bargin price .

We did this with our caravan, I ordered a foam mattress from Ace Foam, five inch firm foam with an inch of soft foam on top. They will make it to your measurements. Our one was slightly smaller than four foot six wide. We have sliding door at end and didnt need to remove it.
Lot lighter than conventional sprung mattress and probably easier to get in van door. Got mine up ended at moment like the rest of my cushions in the van for winter.
Must admit their service was excellent. we used it this year and it was fine.

Murphsmum, thanks for the info, just did an online quote and it came to over £300.00!!!
Three times the price of a sprung mattress, but I wont give up, I will give them a ring
and see if they suggest anotherway forward.
