Ssangyong korando

Hello all,
I am looking for some advise on the towing capability of the ssangyong korando with a Bailey Valencia. The MPTLM of the Valencia is 1497kg. The kerb weight of the korando is 1666kg making around 90% ratio with a towing website (not sure if I am allowed to mention the website).the brochure for the ssangyong boasts a capability to tow 2000kg.and was a winner of. The practical caravan tow awards.(not sure which class).i am wondering. Why the brochure boasts a 2000kg towing capability yet the tow car to caravan web site says the caravan is rather heavy for the car.I accept the tow car/caravan website is purely advisory but must surely have some credibility,I am really taken with the ssangyong not to mention a 5 year warranty could anyone out there please advise me if this car/ caravan is a good match.

the only site i use for car caravan combinations is whattowcar. if its that site you have used then look further down the info list and not just at the opening statement which indeed does seem to favour sub 85% matches...the list that follows gives marks out of 5 stars for individual criteria which is just if not more important reference to the vehicles ability to tow . i dare say the ssangyong scores pretty good in those departments.

I agree. Whattowcar is the site tolook at.

I test drove a Korando. It was shocking. There are far better cars out there

I have to add a general note of caution.

All third party websites and matching services that offer tow matching advice contain errors. Sometimes they do not have the exact make or model of vehicle or caravan, and sometimes the data in their tables is incorrect, So you should never rely on these sites or services to provide definitive towing advice.

The driver is legally responsible to ensuring their outfit is safe and legal, deferring that responsibility to a service or website is not an accepted legal argument.

Its not difficult to work out a towing ratio once you have the correct information.

But towing ratio's ar not the whole story, there are many other factors that contribute to the towing experience.

Hi Craig.
Could you tell me what you didn't like about the korando,was it recently that you had a test drive,? I believe the spec changed around 2014.
