Hi, Does anyone use a Ssangyong Rexton to tow with. We have a Bailey Twin axel van. If so what do you think of it for towing.
Also do you have manual or auto box.

Thank you Brian

Had a late 2005 sx auto until January when we got the Defender. Towed our twin axle Coachman without any problems and that'll probably be heavier than your Bailey. A lot of car for the money. Apart from minor electrical glitches here and there no other problems, tried and tested merc mechanicals. Have to say though the current car is more solid and a more stable tow. Rexton no worse than previous Pajero though for towing or solo duties.

I've used a 2005 Rexton with a 2.7td engine and manual gearbox to tow our 1500kg van for the past year. It is what it is. On the one hand it feels like you're driving a 1980s/90s vehicle in terms of poor quality interior fit and finish and dreadful ride and handling, but on the other hand its got plenty of room and tows well. In fact our Rexton tows our van like it's barely there, and driving at sensible speeds it's pretty economical both solo and as a towcar. However, these are fairly rare cars in the UK, and in my experience if anything other than routine servicing needs doing it's usually a main dealer job as no one else seems to be able to diagnose them. For the sub £5k sum we spent on ours I think it's a great towcar and I'm generally pleased with it, there really isn't much else our there at this price point that offers so much towing capability. Just remember these do drive like a big old Jap 4x4 from the 80s/90s, so aren't for everyone !

I really don't think the ride and handling are that bad all things considered. The quality and fit of the interior is not any worse than some newer japanese offerings. Just seen our old one yesterday parked up at the lawns show so it's obviously still on towing duties!!
