Stained Carpet

Can anybody tell me how to clean a caravan loose carpet that has general stains on it please. Have tried 1001carpet shampoo with little effect
Cheers Allan

If the loose carpet can be taken out of the caravan you could try hiring a carpet cleaner.
Morrisons supermarkets offer a hire service and sell the fluid and if I remember right it doesn't cost much for a days hire

Depending on the stain you have you could try shaving gel just give it a small squirt rub it in and leave it for 20 mins and then scub it off. This did remove a coffee stain where I spilt on the stair carpet. ( A tip from how clean is your house ).

It sounds batty but we remove our carpet, hoover it well on the drive, sprinkle it with carpet shampoo, and then power wash it, and keep going until there are no more bubbles. It's been done every year for twelve years, and it still looks as good as new! However, ours is one of those 'woven' type ones, very solid, with a good backing, not the tufty, fluffy sort so I'm not sure how you'd manage with one of those.
It might be worth a try, and if it all goes wrong, then buy a remnant of carpet, cut it to the same size and shape as your existing carpet, and have it 'whipped' (oversewn around the edges with matching yarn). Most carpet warehouses around here have a contact who will do it for them.

Rug Doctors are good but you would need to use its hose attachment for loose carpets. We took the carpets out the day we bought the van and they have been stored in the house since then. The van floor is wood effect vinyl and we use Ikea or similar machine washable carpets. Saves a bit of weight too!

try greased lightening stain shifter it's excellent, just spry on and wipe off

We have a polti steam cleaner which is very good on stains and carpets in general. Not worth the investment just for that but it will clean the lino, the kitchen and bathroom even the toilet in the house and caravan so worth considering.
