I may have a visit to this site and need to know the best route from the M6. Is jun 41 and the B5305 ok or should I go to jun 43 and A595, 596 route, towing.!

This is our area and we would recommend Junction 43 and A595,596 route. Although it takes you through Carlisle the roads are better for towing. Jct 41 takes you on a lot of minor roads. Once you're through Carlisle (which has good signposts for the west - Workington/whitehaven etc) it is a good run through.There is a good by-pass for Wigton with signposts on the right for Silloth. Pack your warm jacket! Silloth is 'bracing'. We can give you a more detailed map if you want ie See Tesco on your right, turn left past CARLISLE UNITED FOOTBALL ground!etc
