static caravan/mobile home

Hi
my 76yr old mother has one of these mobile homes which I believe is a caravan with a wall round the bottom of it....
There is what I think is weather board round it half way up the wall the whole circumference of the van. I know it has a flat roof originally but since she bought it has had a proper apex tiled roof fitted on top of this flat roof, does she still need this piece of timber now? As its started to rot in places and would need replacing, I have no idea what it is for and if it serves any purpose now especially as she has this roof with guttering and sofits and facia etc. Can any one please advise as I have searched for information and have not come up with anything!!!

Hi Maria
Without seeing the weather boarding and checking exactly what's beneath it it's hard to offer much advice here.
All are welcome to use this website but it is primarily to do with touring caravans rather than static mobile homes or chalets.
You might recieve better advice on the Go Static forum:
