hi,this may sound like a stupid question, but how do you extend the telescopic poles on the status aerials.i can move it up and around etc but can't fathom out how to get the telescopic poles to extend.
If you mean the telescopic aerials that pull out of the side of the mast head I believe they are for FM radio and not TV, if you have a "Ring" antenna or similar you do not need them.
I have extended them using a section of awning pole and the steps but do not bother anymore as we have the other aerial.
To be honest I was more intrigued about it than anything as we could get decent enough reception for tv and radio but noticed other vans with the sme aerials having extended poles, but couldn't work out how work them other than physically moving them but the aerial is 'awning side' so may be a bit difficult with the awning up!
The sound on a TV signal is a component part of the same TV signal and will be transmitted and recieved equally well by the same aerials.
I think they may be getting confused by it being an FM radio aerial.
Your information confirms what I believed to be the case re. the telescopic antenna.
I do not even think it is connected on mine as the radio is definitely fed from the other antenna and the Status 530 appears to feed the TV cables only.
Garry so do I and I didn't believe it either !!(Agree with your appraisal)
I have installed a seperate aerial for the radio as the Status is no good for MW anyway.
The 530 is excellent for TV and much better than the omnidirectional type
I think that the telescopic aerials have some use in Europe for VHF TV reception but either Europeans are taller than us Brits or they must carry a ladder in the absence of a convenient Heli roof light
