colin, the Status is not designed to receive didgital signals, however, if you are in a very strong signal area you may get some.

From various postings over a long period of time, the standard Status does not get very good feedback, in fact it is seen as a waste of time.

To get digital, get a directional aerial, or go the satellite route

Which status? our 530 is very good on digital.

The amplifier also needs to be compatible with digital signals as well as the aerial so you will need to check that it is not this causing the problem.

The Status omnidirectional (315?) aerial is garbage! Replace it with a 530 and marvel at the improvement (like we did!). It receives Freeview fine provided the signal is strong enough - this isn't always the case as not all transmitter relays currently carry digital broadcasts. A number of websites give good information - www.wolfbane.com/articles/tvr.htm is one that I've used.

thanks all I will look into it and let you know

by the way does the 530 use the same mount
No Colin - one of the reasons that the Status 530 is better is because it's mounted on a pole which goes through quite a big hole in the roof, normally into a wardrobe or roof locker. (The 315 sits on top of the roof with a small hole to route the cable.) This pole enables you to adjust direction and orientation from inside the van and gives you that little bit of extra height which is often quite important. Look at the website at www.gradeuk.co.uk/products/antennas/status.asp for more details. In our case, we asked the supplier to put the hole in the same place as the previous mount. We have the 530/5 with the shorter pole but it's proved to be very good so far.

thanks john

I will bear that in mind the reason I ask is because during the summer the van is in a storage yard but in the winter it is kept in a garage and the airel has to be taken off be cause of hight restrictions

Hi to all, I received my Practical Caravan magazine this morning and the issue of the Status 315 came up again. I bought a new Bailey Ranger last year and it was fitted with one as was 90% of the new caravans for sale were.

Why do manufacturers fit them if they are a useless piece of equipment? The caravan could possibly be a couple of hundred pounds cheaper if they weren't fitted.

Manufacturers, Please take note.
