Does anyone know if the standard 'Status' Ariels on a Bailey Pageant are digital ariels? I did intend to go out and try it today using a laptop with a digital tuner but I've been to busy playing with the children's new christmas toys.
Depends, older round 315 Status aerials work fine if the signals strong enough and 'if' your digi-box is a good one, I get perfect pictures from a segams digi-box and TV but in the same place little from a laptop with a 'Pinnacle' usb receiver.
There are two different directional Status aerials and you need the one with purple graphics on the booster box and I'm fairly sure on the aerial as well, I think the others models red btw.
There is no such thing as a 'digital' aerial. In order to receive digital TV via 'Freeview' you need the following:
- proximity to a transmitter broadcasting a digital signal - not all do this at present. Try www.wolfbane.com/articles/tvr.htm or other similar websites to find out whether you're near enough to one that does. As the 'digital swichover' proceeds, more transmitters will provide a digital signal.
- a decent aerial - most people on this forum (including me) think that the Status 315 usually isn't good enough. A directional aerial will perform much better. The Status 530 works for me.
- a 'digibox' - in theory, any will do but some perform better than others when dealing with a weaker signal.
