Steadies

A Happy New Year to everyone.

The rear steadies on my Amara are tucked underneath the rear of the van and the hexagon drive for them is quite difficult to reach without getting down really low. Has anyone fitted guide tubes to facilitate locating the hexagon, a la Compass vans, and was it difficult? 73 Y.O.

Use the 38mm white plastic waste pipe designed for plumbing, with the correct size two screw clamps screwed to bottom of van.You may have to fit spacer blocks under clamps to align the hexagon with the centre of tube.

Henry, you could try standing by the back of the van with the winding handle in one hand and scratching your head with the other, I reckon 5 minutes tops.

Jeff.
