Stolen caravans - a little justice maybe

Whilst waiting for the ferry in Calais yesterday afternoon we pulled up alongside a series of 'commercial' vehicles (transits and flatbeds) towing a variety of caravans. Once outside the car stretching our legs we noticed on closer inspection that some of the towing vehicles had removed their rear number plate and placed it in the rear window of the caravan and others had different number plates on the towcar and the caravan. This coupled with damaged door locks didnt take a genius to work out that the caravans had been stolen. However one vehicle really caught our eye as it had no electric conections at all of the rear of the van, so could not possibly have had any working lights. One of our party, a traffic officer in the UK, had a word with the UK Border Agency and requested that the Kent Police be informed as to our concerns over at the very least the roadworthyness of the vehicles and less that 2 hours later the suspicious outfits were pulled in by the Police and hopefully justice served.

Ten to one they get off scott free, maybe telling the French authorities would have had the desired effect. ( preferably the Guillotine)
