Storage fees

Just received a note of my annual storage fee for a CSSOA silver site. The fee is £165. The site is basic with the vans on grass but the road between the lines of vans is tarmac.

How does this fee compare with what others are paying ?

We pay £325 p.a. for a CASSOA Gold site:
  • Tarmac hardstanding
  • 24 x 7 access via key card & security gates
  • camera monitored
  • washing facilities (at extra cost)

The prices shown in these answers are meaning less without any indication as to what area of the country they relate to.

Lanarkshire. CASSOA Gold site £250, tarmac with security gates, card entrance and CCTV, no water or electrics though. Seems to be the rate for thr area as another Gold site charges same amd farm down the road £200. CC are opening new site with annual fee of £360 which might cause others to increase rates or leave them having to reduce them. £250 may seem low but with over 400 pitches the income is pretty good even after costs.

E yorks silver, 24hr access with security card, cctv, washing facilities, all hard standing. Had to wait for a suitably large pitch to become available. £330 per year paid twice yearly at £165. The only cheaper facilities in our area (only 5 mins drive to get to it) have little or no security or restrictive access.

Sounds good value to me, we store on a silver Cassoa site.. £520 per year, no electric, no water to wash the van... nothing.
but not another one in the area... supply and demand and he has a waiting list, i'm in the wrong business

Sorry Steve, your right!!! Solihull, west Midlands

Thanks for all the replies. It does look as if I have a good deal even if there are no facilities
As steve w says it does depend on where you are. I am on the North Essex coast at Frinton on Sea which is about 20 miles north of Colchester. I used to live in North London and never saw any storage sites but come to think about it I never saw any caravans either
There are approx 400 caravans stored at my site so at £165 a time it is a nice little earner for the owner, although the way the weather has been this year the farmer needs the income as the income from the farm has probably dropped.

We paid £360 a year, rising to £400 for the next renewal, in West Yorkshire, outside storage on a dusty area with gravel roads and dust-storms, Silver Cassoa.
We now pay £200 a year for indoor storage in a secure locked barn, owner on site, with 24 hour access by keycode! (But that's in France, sorry!)
Our insurance is the same. Our insurers still insist on two security devices even though caravans are only very rarely stolen in France.

We paid £330 p.a. for last year for a CASSOA Gold site:
  • Roadstone hardstanding with tarmac on complex roads
  • 12 x 7 access between certain hours (unless notified prior to visit)
  • Security staff on site 24/7 entry/exit via barrier at the gatehouse
  • Letter of authourisation needed to get access and remove van from site

Further to Steves comment, counties are big area and there can be massive differences in prices across them.

Apart from the fact it might be construed as advertising, naming the site and its address would be the most helpful, but I'd settle for the name of the town and county

It wouldn't be advertising to provide names and addresses of sites but I definitely wouldn't recommend it.
This is an open access forum and you never know who is looking in so to give addresses where there are possibly unattended caravans could tip off the bad guys

South Devon

Just paid £100.80p for 42 days, it was tempoary for me and that is there summer rate = £2.40 per day
There winter rate =£1.20 per day
So a quick calculation of 6 months @ winter and 6 months@ summer rates could well be over £600.00

Glad it goes back on the drive next weekend

We are in South Yorkshire, and have just left the nearest Cassoa gold site, it has 24 hours access with electronic barrier and gates cctv etc and owner on site. Our rental was increased to £190 for the six months and this is a huge site, I would estimate easily 500. we have re sited to a local farm based storeage facility which has cctv locked gate, securefencing etc etc and the farm owner lives on site. the price for this is £200 per year, a vast saving, the sole difference in security is the cassoa 'badge'

Liverpool casco gold site
electric gates with fob for 24hrs access.
patrolling security with cameras and lighting to all areas.
£440 per year.

cheers
John
