A newbie question, if you please.
The nearest storage to me is maybe ten miles away, fair enough. I've no space at home to park, even short term, so I suppose I'll have to take all the packing to the yard to load and go, which would seem to be a bind. Then I wonder how about cleaning/servicing, when I have no space available?

These may seem strange questions, but as I've yet to take the plunge, I'm looking at problems before they might arrive, thank you.

The only thing we take to the caravan is clothes on the weekend. Our storage unit has a wash facility and is a CASSOA Gold site. We live near Worcester if that helps at all.

Hi Mick
As far as servicing is concerned an approved mobile caravan engineer would be happy to travel to the storage area to carry out the work with the agreement of the storage site owners, if you are doing the work yourself try to find storage that will allow you to clean and work on your caravan from time to time.
We keep everything that we need inside the caravan and just take food and clothing in the car when we hitch up, our storage is about ten miles from home although we could put our caravan on the drive (it's on the drive at the moment because I'm fitting my solar panel to the roof of the caravan)
We sometimes see caravanners who have nowhere to clean their caravans giving their caravans a wash when they arrive on site, some sites don't allow caravan washing and some do.

Further to this, I've been driving about all day today to try to find a storage site. The three nearest to me are all full. The only one with space want £375 per year! Which is a bit of a stretch, given my reluctance (and parsimony) to take on the whole caravan experience.

I pay £32 a month for a pretty good secure storage site.
I feel that this is a bit steep, but unble to store the van at my home long term(I can bring it home for a couple of days to give it a good wash, but it blocks off access to the rear of the house so its not ideal).
Probably sounds a little sad,but I usully leave the polishing until we get to a site.I havent had a siteowner complain yet about me doing this.

We pay £360 for a Gold cassoa site which is convenient to the M5. As a result we get a discount on the insurance for the caravan.and don 't have to worry about low lifes breaking in or stealing the caravan.
