strictly portable aircon units

Hi folks,

looking to purchase a free standing/portable air con unit for my bailey wyoming. considering various options such as matsui and carlton. any body advise on a good, quiet and efficient unit of moderate size, or is this all a contradition in terms?

Hello John,

Do make sure that the unit you buy is a true air conditioner, not just an evaporative air cooler.

The evaporative types work by adding moisture to the air, which does cool somewhat, but tit loads the caravan air with moisture which will begin to condense out usually at night when the outside cools down.

The true air conditioner will have and exhaust hose. This should be fixed ideally to a floor mounted ventilator point. Other wise you will not only have a cooled air out let you will also have a hot air outlet which will give a net increase in temperature.

There are some smallish units that are split, with the evaporator coil (Cold air outlet) connected to a separate box by an umbilical chord to the condenser coil which should be mounted outside and the chord brought in through a window seal.

Thanks everyone, I am bginning to think that what I am looking for probably does not exist, particularly in the light of JohnLs comments, but please if there is a suitble unit out there let me know
