Suggestions for Normandy caravan site please?

My Wife and I (OK and the dog!!) are hoping to take our caravan abroad for the first time next September, and are hoping to visit Normandy - mainly for the D-day history etc.....

THere's just the two of us - no kids (except the spoilt 3 year old Sprollie!), and we're looking for a quiet site (ie don't need a clubhouse and entertainment), that obviously takes dogs.

Probable crossing will be via Dover fery or tunnel - can Normandy be reached easily without using toll roads from there?

Any suggestions and tips would be appreciated!

Le Cormoran, which is a Camping Cheque site, is 20 metres from the beach! It's near to St Mere Eglise, and although it appears to have loads of facilities, as I said in the last posting, sites in France will be quiet in September. After mid-August all the French go home, some Brits arrive, but sites are never full and really it's the best time to holiday. The site takes dogs, too. You'll be saving 7 euros per night by using Camping Cheques.

Sorry, and you'll save 3 euros on the dog too, so 10 euros per night saving.

I'll check those out. Le Cormoran sounds very good, as a certain sprollie LOVES to get wet while chasing birds ..........

Was looking at the ASCI card site, and came across a caravan site called Le Fanal - anyone know of this one?

Have a look at Chateau De Martragny between Caen and Bayeux. Excellent site takes Camping Cheques and handy for all the British D-Day Beaches and the American Cemetery and Omaha Landing Beaches.
 
Chateau De Martragny is my choice for normandy, beeen their twice. Great site and with camping cheques is great value. La Vallee is also a good site with sea views

Why not try 1 week at Le Cormoran to visit the American beaches and museums and then travel back towards Bayeaux (Chateau Martragny) for the English / Canadian beaches?
 
The municipal at Carantan. Good site quiet clean facilties right in centre of town. Good for extended stays. Relatively cheap.
 
Wherever you decide there is one place everyone should visit - the American War Cemetery above Omaha Beach - unbelievably moving as is the British Cemeterey of course at Bayeuax
