Just had a look at the MET office web site and checked out the inshore waters...strong winds all along the west and south coast forecast. Thankfully, most sites have some areas where there is shelter from the prevailing winds. However, we stayed on the beautiful C.C. site at Trewethett Farm one summer. As I waited to check in, the warden caught me staring at the vast quantities of awning straps for sale. "Got one"? he asked. "No" I replied. He casually walked over, took one down and with a wink, handed it to me and said "You're going to need one". Two nights later I sat out in the awning not daring to go in the 'van as we took the full brunt of a storm. After a while I got used to the awning creaking, lifting and moaning and so I did go to bed thinking there was nothing more i could do. The next morning I hardly dared to open the blinds to take a look. To my amazement, the awning was still there and all that had happened was that a few pegs had been loosened. To this day I felt that everybody on site deserved a certificate of endurance. Needless to say the strap comes with us on every trip. Let's hope for some settled weather in the school holidays eh? Best wishes, Butler
