Suncamp Porch guylines

Still considering buying one of these for shorter breaks but when better half saw the photos on dealers website she decided that she did not like the guylines sticking out so far from the outfit. Can I ask those who have used this awning do you peg it out as a norml full awning, are the guylines only an additional holding system and if so are they necessary in "normal" weather conditions? Does anyone else find the guylines a put off?

we have one of these and they are very sturdy we have only used our guy lines a couple of times when it was really windy

we have a porch awning similar to the suncamp the name of it escapes me at the minuite but never use the extra guy lines

however it does have 2 broad straps one on either side that must be used as this gives it stability

the other thing about this type of porch that you have to be aware of is the hight of the top awning rail im not sure about the suncamp but the one we bought has a maximum hight of 2.35mtrs some are only suitable for van with a top rail of 2.25mtr and would not fit the bailey ranger we have

but they are good for erecting ours having only 3 carbon fibre poles 2 top to btm and one round the top it takes about as long to put up as it does to make coffee (5 mins only)

I wil have a look at what type it is and post it when I have time to go to the van and look

you only really need the guys when putting it up, because once the 2 poles are in place on the inside for the roof thaen that is you the guys are not required. It does not need any guy ropes what so ever. I put the suncamp up my self no problem best awning made, cannot wait for the summer to come , used it for 5 days at easter and it was fab, loads of space inside and having the built in curtains is a good thing.

Sorry Andrew but you've got me confused here. Why do I need the guylines when putting the awning up but not afterwards? Surely you can't fit the guylines until the awning is erected?

what i mean is when i construct the awning i used the 2 outer guys to support the frame while i go and put the 2 bars up on the inside which give tension. Once these 2 poles are in place there is no need for guys unless it gets windy.
 
The guy lines are attached to the awning.

use them to hold the poles in place the put the two rods in place inside the awning then remove guy line pegs if you don't want them sticking out.
