We have just got back from sunny Dorset where on the first night it blew a bit, don't know how strong and unfortunately our porch awning split from the bit of material which slides in the awning rail, only about a foot. Our awning is a Suncamp Scenic Plus. I got it in June last year. Should this have happened, should I send it back or get it repaired locally? We live in the Chichester/Portsmouth area.

We have one of these porch awnings and it has stood up to some quite windy conditions with no damage. I know of quite a few people who have these awnings and they have had no problems.
I think I would be taking it back to where you got it from and trying to get a replacement.

Did you peg the foot of the vertical poles to the ground (through the ring/pin that slots into the bottom) and peg the guy lines out properly?
We suffered a particularly fierce thunderstorm with very strong winds in France recently that brought down a tree about 10 metres from our pitch! I hadn't pegged out as described above and the awning collapsed in on itself. Luckily there was no permanent damage and since then I make sure everything is very tight even when no bad weather is forecast.
Our only other problem has been that in very heavy rain the roof leaks. It seems to come through at the awning seam/beading and drips down the roof before falling to the floor.However, for the money, it is one of our best buys - easy to put up and take down and enough room to have a table and chairs inside if the weather isn't too good.

F in Laws lasted 3 yrs and the same thing happened. It could have ben sewn back at home. In windy Wales last wek mine imploded on itself. Two of the black poles have split rendering it useless. I'm still working out how to fix the poles. So it lasted 4 yrs for

I shall see if the manufacture can help otherwise I'll get a local sail maker to sew it back.
