Sunncamp Scenic and Khyam Porch Awnings

These appear from the forum to be the most favoured porch awnings to erect quickly with little fuss. Can any one tell me how these types of awnings fix to the sides of the caravan? Am I right in assuming that these awnings are not so critical when packed away wet. How durable are they? Any information would be much appreciated. Many thanks.

Ron

Hi,

the Kyham uses a figure of eight plastic profile so that one side of the plastic goes into the awning rail just like a normal awning, the porch awning then slieds into the other groove on the figure eight. The Kyham is very quick to put up.

We have the sunncamp scenic.

We have been away the last 2 weekends in AWFUL weather - last weekend we were in 60mph gales and torrential rain and this weekend it was also blustery with more rain and our little porch awning coped with it all!!!

quite thought we were gonna wake up with no awning....its easy to put up and take down ( 10 mins )....piece of cake.

Highly recommended, we bought ours online at towsure - shop around because some dealers in store are a lot more expensive.

Hi Ron

We bought the new Ultima 260 porch awning from towsure, one week later we upgraded to the Ultima 390 proch awning from www.e-awnings.co.uk the 390 worked out cheaper on this site than towsure. Ordered one day and came the next day free of charge. Can't fault this Awning, we have just bought a iner tent which is due to be delivered on Wednesday, will use this weekend and will leave feedback to you all.

Ron,

The Scenic Plus is a great awning. Dead easy to erect, steady and dry as a bone in the wind/wet. The sides do not fix to the caravan. I peg the side walls as close to the 'van as possible - in fact, try to get them under the 'van, so they form as tight a seal as possible.

If you have to pack them up when wet, make sure you unpack and dry them out within a day or so. They will attract mould and rot unless fully dried. The good thing is, they are easy to dry - much better that out Isabella porch awning or Bradcott full awning.

Hi Ron,

We have the senic, a great little porch awning, but don't forget they do the senic plus.As said defore just slides inti your awning rail, then you insert two vertical and one horizontal flexible tent poles into the polyester frame and then peg out. Thakes about 10 mins to put the awning up after your first try. We paid

We bought the Sunncamp scenic 260 at the NEC show in February, very impressive awning easy to carry in 1 bag and easy to take down, report in July PC magazine gives very fair overview, ours did suffer small tear as fabric is quite lightweight, but was easily repaired, Only problem we have now is that we have changed caravan and it won't fit new van because it will finish in middle of a window, so if anybody fancies a little used Sunncamp Scenic 260 please let me know, but you must have 260cm of straight awning rail for it to fit

Hi Ron

We have just got our hands on a Scenic Plus Porch Awning.

Absolutely impressed!! Only took me 15 minutes to put it up the first time. Gave us the room we were looking for with some to spare. (We wanted it to be able to keep my wife's wheelchair under cover and give us shelter from the rain)

Thoroughly recommend the product, and no I am not associated with the company, you can't even buy it in New Zealand!

Just come back from a weekend in Brean.

We put our Sunncamp Ultima 390 up in about 30 mins.

We also put up our inner tent that we put up for the first time, this tooka bout 5 mins. It coveres one section of the window with two doors in it. The inner tent will not take our double airbed only the single so my daughter went in it.Really pleased with both the Sunncamp 390 and the inner tent. The people in the caravan next to us also commented on quick we put the awning up.

Ron

we have the Scenic Plus and, as others have said, we peg it under the 'van to form a reasonably tight seal. Some water may get in but its no worse than the porch awning we previousy had. We use rubber suckers for the horizontal pole to prevent damage to the side of the 'van in high winds.

No problem if its wet when taking it down, we simply put it in the shower then when we get home, stick it on the line or over the bannister.

Our Scenic plus crosses a window. It makes no difference to it.
