swapping a water pump

hi can anyone help i need to replace my whale smartflo water pump can i swap it for a shurflo or poiflo pump which ive been told are cheaper but more robust than the smartflo iif so how do i choose the psi ????

Hello Oliver,
The common unit for water system pressure in caravans is Bar
Caravan pipe work is normally only rated to accept 1.5Bar pressure. If you excede this pressure you are in danger of blowing joints and seals. Most positive displacment pumps (like Shuflo, smartflo etc), are actually very capable of producing quite a lot more than 1.5Bar, but almost universally these pumps for caravans have a pressure switch fitted which is pre set for a safe level for caravans.

When purchasing your new pump, just make sure the retailer knows it for a caravan then they should supply the correct type.
