Swift Celebration 550 New 2010

Hi. anybody having trouble with a whine from alarm system. van is fitted with a nordelettronica ne209. system activates and deactivates and alarm works on entry etc. however whether system is activated or not there is a loud whining noise coming from the alarm control box. new van and been on 240v hook up for 1 week, leisure battery fully charged. noise comes on after about 4 days after system activated. ( not the alarm noise going off ) just a whining from alarm box. ? means a long drive if need warranty work done. T.J.

Hi Trevor,

The noise you describe suggests the alarms battery is at a low state. Suggest Putting your leisure battery on charge for 24 hours and it should go away.

thanks

Dave

Hi Dave.. Leisure battery been on charge for over a week and fully charged at 1375v. leave hook up on permantly 240v. seems after approx 4days of alarm being activated that the whining noise comes on. 240v hook up.. PSU main button on.. charge button on..(the alarm should be wired in parallel to leisure battery.) ? would switching power button on control panel above door make any difference. ? does this activate charge system to alarm internal battery.? more help please. T.J.

Hi Trevor,

Yes, the alarm is in parallel with the leisure battery, and so the alarm battery should by this stage be fully charged - in 2010 the control panel does not need to be on as the leisure battery is selected/receives charge by default.

As final checks would suggest checking that the 2-way connector on the harness, into which the alarm is plugged, is also at 13.75/13.8v, and that if the upper case of the alarm is removed, that the battery within the alarm is actually at that voltage. (If the battery is damaged/faulty it may not be receiving charge).

Hope this helps

Dave

Hi. Dave.. if still their. I checked battery volts + two wire alarm connection volts, both the same.( did'nt go as far as opening alarm lid ) as hook up been on for approx 10 days I switched all off in caravan, iso switch and disconnected hook up. set alarm full activation, being like that for last four days and all seems ok. hopefully problem solved, just taken a little longer for alarm battery to charge fully.? will monitor alarm system over time. many thanks for help. T.J.
