swift challenger 540

have any of you bought a 2009 540 or simlar

what are your views on this model.

We took delivery of a 2009 Eccles Jewel (same layout) two weeks ago and used it last weekend. Can only say that it is a relief to get back to the feeling of space this layout gives - we previously had a Challenger 560 (island bed) as I am tall and felt that the island would be good - it wasn't for all sorts of reasons. We had issues with this 'van anyway (see the forum for details), but the 560 layout is very cramped with much less storage space than the 540. We swapped a 2006 540 for the 2008 560 - major mistake!

I can't think of a single down-side to the 540 layout if used by a couple, not so fantastic as a proper four-berth, but still good - our kids were still coming on the main holiday when we had the 540 and we got on okay.

In short, storage space is excellent, layout excellent, shower / toilet is a good size and easily wiped down, new oven is good, revised sink is better than previous - nothing bad to say really. If you watch much tv, a 19in telly is best as it is a long way from the front end seats to the tv station on the "sideboard".

Hi Tony

I was this close (picture finger and thumb almost touching) to buying one earlier in the year. It was eventually a toss up between it and a Pageant Provence series 6. I 'think' the Swift seemed to have a few more inches of space inside rather than the Swift. Eventually the wooden partition door and 'L' shaped lounge swung it for us. Series 7 provence no longer has the 'L' lounge (which is why we still pressed on and bought a series 6 even when the S7 was announced).

I haven't looked at 2009 models though.

We had a Swift Challenger 540 2007. Had to change it due to many problems but still chose another 540 as we love the layout. Now got a Conqueror 540(2008) and love it.We didn't have the TV though. Kept our own(15' Sony with built in Freeview) and had the built in Radio/DVD player+speakers transferred from the 2007 van.

We have a 2008 Challenger 540. We love the layout and the space but have had problems with water ingress through the underbed locker. Although to be fair the rain last autumn was pretty horrendous at our site near Kendal.
