what is the differances between:-abbey vogue 650.

ace jubilee prestige.

sterling europa650.

swift carisma 650.

all at same retail price.

all seem to have the same spec.

so why have 4 vans or am I missing something? resale value?

Brand loyalty - some people always buy one make - and stick to it, even though the same manufacturer now produces them all on the same production lines, and only the interior trims or other very small details are actually different.

Similarly, the Explorer group manufacture Compass, Elddis, Xplore and Buccaneer - though there are more 'visible' differences in these makes than in the Swift group. I don't doubt that as manufacturing pressures and costs 'hot up' in the 'credit crunch' that the Explorer group models will also become more similar as costs are cut to the bone.

Swift also produce Sprite and used to make Bessacar - though these models are slightly different - Sprite being the budget models, and Bessacar was promoted as being at the top of the range - with that slot now being taken over by the top of the range model in the Abbey, Ace, Sterling and Swift ranges.

I think that previously most of these makes were actually individual companies, which have been taken over by Swift, and production continued with the same names to encourage customer brand loyalty.

you are in the same situation as us. we tried to compare a swift charisma with a ace jubilee and all the features were the same and were even printed in the same order. the brochures were the same layout with pictures taken from the same angles. it is appalling how swift can sell us 'cloned' caravans. we have come to the conclusion that the only differance is the interior fabric and the exterior grapics. if you are after something different from swift, opt for a dealer special. we've got a swift fairway and it has heavy duty corner steadies, a microwave, gas bbq point, an extra wet locker, cd/radio and exclusive fabrics to broad lane which seem a bit more tasteful and toned down compared to sterling's latest efforts.
