Swift smart construction floor vs bailey floor

Hi Mikarooney, thought you had deserted us.
As far as I know the floor construction in all the new type of caravan builds such as the alu tech etc is still the same as it has been for the previous construction types. I know that many people have commented on how that might be a potential weakness in the Bailey alu tech design. The thinking there being that ok there is no wood or such in the walls to be damaged by dampness but any water ingress would go straight to the floor and that would be damaged.

Hi

which construction method is better?

Are you asking which floor construction method is the best or which general caravan construction method is the best?
My honest answer to that is I don't know. The newer methods such as alu tech, which is the only one I have personal experience of, are still relatively new so a full evaluation of their effectiveness and overall improvement over previous build methods is not yet available. Anything which reduces the problems of water ingress and dampness is to be encouraged. If the likes of Damien who does work on different caravans is around he might be better suited to comment on this. The forum does quieten down around now, people busy or the lucky ones away in their caravans so you might not get the best of response at this time.

Typical caravan floor construction is a sandwich of plywood top and bottom with a layer of insulation in the middle.
