Swift Talk gone

Yes it’s been down for quite a while due to “ inappropriate behaviours “ and they were considering what to do about its future. Shame it’s gone as it was useful to me on a few occasions when I required caravan specific advice.

PS I will not be taking up the suggestion to go on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to pursue information and chat.

I found it useful and ignored the posts that seem to be the reason Swift dropped it ,like Clive i will be avoiding all the social media opportunities

It's a shame that a useful platform from which Swift answered technical questions directly has now gone because of a few members who wouldn't respect their membership criteria.
Social media such as Facebook and Twitter can be useful for quick exchanges of information, but unlike this online community there is little chance to gauge the accuracy or validity of information from an informants reputation earned over long term online friendship and companionship.
Good luck to Swift for the future, at least they tried.

Not being a Swift owner I have not made use of Swift Talk. But is it a thought for a forum like this, to invite Swift (and others). To respond to owners technical issues in dedicated sections.

However, my limited understanding is that manufacturers have reluctance to do this as they open up a possible route for dissatisfied owners to ‘have a go’ at them.

But just thinking allowed.

Both Swift and Bailey plus enlightened accessory manufacturers such as Whale have at times responded to owners queries on this forum, and of course they are more than welcome to use this forum at any time.
Genuine queries will always be allowed with no 'having a go' on the message boards.
Manufacturers who have tried to run customer based internet forums don't have the time or resources to effectively moderate their own platforms which is presumably why Swift Forum ran into problems.

Yes I too had a note from Swift today. Main reason for closure was inappropriate forum behaviour. I guess this took up a lot of employee time monitoring and answering spurious or negative comments. This is a real backward step for Swift Owners who genuinely valued all the technical manufacture input. I learnt a lot! Shame on those who abused it . Now ruined for the majority. 😢😢

Thank you Mel 😊
I wasn't fishing for compliments with my earlier reply but such comments are very gratefully received and appreciated 😊

Used Swift Talk when I had my last caravan, a Sterling.
It was dominated, even then, by 2 or 3 members who did not understand the meaning of caravanners being part of a "broad church."

Many years ago we were considering buying a Swift caravan and joined the forum. Although I got some excellent advice from some members, if you said anything negative about a Swift caravan 2 0r 3 members would jumped down your throat. In the end we did nto buy a Swift caravan but I stayed a member as many components were similar across all brands. Eventually the bickering etc got too much I left the forum probably 4 - 5 years ago.

If I remember there was a bloke , Biggles or whatever who answered everything and knew everything😉. A shame because the technical input from Swift personnel was the benchmark for other manufacturers none of whom really followed.

Whilst there is a very reasonable policy of not allowing manufacturers to advertise on this forum, as far as I know there is nothing stopping them from engaging to help a caravanner on a legitimate subject.

Hi, I’ve had an email from Swift today regarding a chance to login on the 11th for an online look at the manufacturing facilities etc at the Yorkshire factory where the caravans are being built, I expect it’s a lot of trying to boost sales but it could be quite interesting, I’ll see if I can copy the email in case it’s of interest to anyone, maybe interesting especially to swift owners or maybe not, so if anyone wants it I’ll see what I can do or maybe if you google “swift live” it’ll take you to where you register, not sure why I got the email because I’ve never owned a swift and as far as I know I never joined the recently closed swift forum, if this is looked on as advertising maybe a moderator will delete it.

Whilst this initiative by Swift could be seen as advertising, it is a bold step forward for a UK manufacturer and should be applauded for its novel approach .

As far as I can determine there is no restriction on who can or cannot register for the event, be that Swift product owners or not, so , if you want to see their system and maybe get some appreciation of what they are doing, then go ahead and make yourself available on the 11th after registering.

I've registered and am waiting for the 11th.

I have a Swift, I think???
