Looks like Swift have stolen the show, plus all the market feedback.

No swift answers
No doubt they are providing a useful service for owners as well as advertising and backing up the product
I no longer have the Swift based Award but had some good help from them in the past via this website

With the Bailey Alutech design drawbacks for me the next van may well be another Swift --its a pity that the new WOW factor Challengers are on the heavy side

Congratulations to all at Swift Talk, it's a pity that all caravan manufacturers don't follow the example of the guys at Swift who run the forum.
They are not strictly brand specific either, they try to offer good advice to all caravan owners and their website and forum is a great online resource for all of us. They get instant real time feedback from a ready made focus group and those of us who have bought Swift built caravans have a direct line of contact with the manufacturer. Win - Win

They used to say "don't hang out your dirty washing".
Swift have have done just that and turned many a sow's ear into a silk purse. They answer the hardest of questions complaints rapidly and very fairly. I have to say their interaction with customers is excellent and inspires confidence in their product.
Moreso you do not have to be a Swift owner to join. Many of the questions are relevant to all makes of caravan.
Well done Swift and the guys who answer almost 24/7.

I agree with what has been said on here we bought a brand new Sterling last year, have had some good replies but recently posted on their with and Alde heating issue and none of the Swift gang answered so I guess its just as well there is some good knowledge on Practical Catavans Forum.

I think the Swift Forum gives good service, and is certainly the way forward for manufacturers to get first hand feedback on their products.
As for not replying to some questions, whilst Andy, Ash and others at Swift may know all there is to know about the overall build of their vans, they do not have in depth technical knowledge of each piece of fitted equipment such as the Aldi system, Fridges, Cookers etc etc etc.
In that case, it is quite reasonable for them not to post but either contact the appliance manufacturer and ask them, then post, or ask the appliance manufacturer to reply, as Sargent do.

Damian I agree with your comments ,I suppose I had really overlooked the fact that this was a Technical issue but at the same time I just wanted to point out there is a wealth of knowledge here on this forum that we must not forget like people such as yourself who are always there to give that friendly advise

I think that is the strength of a good forum.
There is, as you say, a wealth of knowledge which waiting to be tapped, and as such I think most problems can be solved with either a single posting, or a combination of more postings of individuals experiences and remedies.

I am really pleased that Swift have bitten the bullet about responding to customer enquiries. They are setting a high standard example that other manufactures should consider emulating.

At least one other contributor has made the point that they are finding they can ‘turn a sow’s ear into a silk purse’

The most successful companies (not just caravan manufacturers) invariably take customer complaints and comments very seriously, it’s a vast source of information about their products, and will often reveal those small niggles that would otherwise be just taken as ‘one of those things’ and not given sufficient credence to warrant any further work to prevent them in the future.

Looking for opportunities for improvement is a core activity for world-class companies, and is one of the features of the ISO9000 series of business management models, though it applies to management systems more than product development.

The theory is that a well ordered management systems will in its self produce well ordered product development.

Swifts forum is a welcome step in the right direction, but there are still more steps to complete the journey.

(PS this was created in MS word and imported with rich text disabbled - has this helped?)
