I don't think I implied anything counter to that, the question is about the value of an FSH.
May be Prof your comment in #13 was potentially ambiguous?

. If it's good then as a private purchase does it really matter if it had a damp problem a few years ago, as long as it was sorted correctly

Hi all, as I have said thank you for replies, but may I just say I never said ever that the van has ever had a damp problem, please see my initial question.
Just one of the things that sometimes happens when new comments come in and the poster hasn’t kept up with the thread. It’s a bit like: when wartime radio operators passed on messages:

ā€œSend reinforcements. We are going to advanceā€ could become ā€œSend three and fourpence. We are going to a danceā€

When we bought a 2018 Elddis from a dealership in December 2021, I asked about a transfer of the manufacturers warranty. This wasn’t possible as the van had missed a service. Instead we negotiated a 2 year MB&G warranty thrown in as part of the purchase deal. This was invaluable as the van was a Lemon and they found damp (again!) when I had had enough and traded it in to the original dealership after 14months. This
I will confess to not having read every post in this thread but my advice would be get as long and as robust warranty as you can out of the dealership. BTW ours came with a dealership recent service and an apparently clear damp report.

You can buy MB&G warranty as a private purchase should you need to. But like cars after market warranty sometimes a dealer can be persuaded to do a good price on a higher level warranty.
