Switzerland

Hopeing to go to Italy next April and will be driving through Switzerland. Anyone know if I would need any different tyres or of any other laws I should be aware of.

Mike

I presume that you are aware of the motorway toll of 40 Swiss Francs that must be paid both for the car and the caravan. Otherwise there is nothing special to watch out for in Switzerland that is different to other Continental countries. Outside built-up areas, the speed limit for caravans is 80km/h, including motorways.

Thanks Lutz, I did not fancy having to buy a new set of tyres.

I have been before but never this early. Have you any idea what the weather is like at this time of year around Florence/Rome?

Thanks again,

Mike

April in Italy.

have been in early march to rome and the weather was in the low 20,s with a little rain but mainly sunny.

Have been in late may [last year] and again low 20,s but loads of rain !

So really the is no set pattern but i'd expect more drier days than wet as the norm.

Be carefull the laws about using the right tyres or carrying chain in Italy may apply, because in the north of Italy many passes are closed sometimes as late as june!

best to check out the rules on this one.
