Taking our dog on ferry

we have taken our caravan to France twice but now have a dog.He is microchipped and has a pet passport but does your dog have to travel in cage provided on the ferry or can he stay in the caravan?

We would be travelling overnight from Portsmouth to St.Malo.

Hello Pauline.

Yes, dogs can travel in the van or in the car.

Before you go, it's worth doing a little bit of research as to the dangers you ( or rather the dog ) can face on the other side of the channel dependant upon the time of year you intend to travel. One thing you MUST become acquainted with is the terrible effects that contamination by Processionary Caterpillars can cause. Just feed the two words into Google.

Here's a good starting point .
