Talk about Torque

Hi
Have already posted this on another forum, just curios to see what people think.

When you torque a fitting down, do you tighten from the nut or the bolt head (aside from captive nuts)

Is the torque calculated for the nut and you loose some tightness by tightening the bolt??

The torque is normally measured on the nut, but at times this is not possible and the installer should then specify a torque appropriate to be used. ie, torqueing up the nuts on the bolt on tow ball to the hitch, unless you have wrenches like these of the correct size you will have to torque the bolts.
